Fade by Jay DavenportWe fade away a little more each day
like sunlight over the days as the cold nears.
As the frost melts from the glacier in each
summer, so do we slowly part our ways.
Time is the accused, the destroyer of
senses and bonds that were almost eternal;
be it fate or otherwise, it takes
its toll on us, rendering us shadows.
We were so reliant on each other
to complete what we so desperately lacked;
together, what we could not be apart,
many emotions, you and I, as one.
We, like the autumn Sun, the shadows of day,
like the ice of the North, we fade away.
