A Lullabye by Genevieve Sturrockit's time for bed not time to play
night is here it's the end of the day
so close your eyes go to sleep
then you can play while you dream
of riding a horse the color of cream
across a field of emerald green
beneath a sky as blue as can be
or sailing a boat across the sea
it's time for bed....
of a carousel at the county fair
knocking down jugs to win the teddy bear
riding a coaster as fast as the wind
and when it's all over you can dream it again
it's time for bed...
of dancing on stage on the tips of your toes
spinning in circles while the audience oh's
or singing the anthem at a baseball game
taking your bows while the crowd calls your name
it's time for bed...
of driving a car around a big race track
going so fast never looking back
winning the trophy at the end of the race
and a pretty girl kissing you right on your face
it's time for bed...
flying a plane way up in the sky
or building a tower a thousand feet high
there's so many things you could dream
but first you much close your eyes and sleep
it's time for bed... 06/01/2002 Author's Note: Written for my kids when my youngest was 6 mo.
