Darkened Theatres
by Joe CramerIt is so sad to sit
In a darkened theatre
All by yourself, anon.
Then the players act
Upon a stage
Of make-believe,
celluloid life
And the world starts again.
A little less lonely,
less obscure.
More meaning now,
if but for the span
Of only a few hours of interludes.
The sadness remains after the curtain
Though now less of an intrusion.
