Summer Fling.

by Frank Lee

My sharp tongue, bitter against something I can’t define
let me down again, and
This time it hurts.
‘I’ll break your heart eventually,’
I once boasted confidently
but now,
the knife is stabbing (me), piercing (me), twisting (me),
relentlessly.
Constantly seeking attention and acting obnoxious,
guzzling booze and winding up unconscious,
She saw straight through my psychosis.
“You can’t bullshit a bullshitter,”
I can’t say she ever earned my trust,
Thought it was another case of summertime lust,
but it must
have been something different
because the knife is stabbing (me), piercing (me), twisting (me),
relentlessly.
