you'll set your world on fire looking for a spark by Vere MantratriadI'd like to taste of
vinegar to keep these
flies from crowding
around my tongue
give all the sweetness
back where it belongs
to some other girl
that deserves heaven
or just a step above
because they'd all
be here if they wanted
but I'm here alone
so don't you call me
a lucky girl when I'm
forsaken here by every
one that ever meant a
thing to me don't you
pity me for my own
just leave the fire
burning and maybe
you'll find a witch
in all your excess
because I've known your
hopes for far too long
and hope doesn't mean
a thing if you haven't
the faith to keep it up
so I float from city to
pasture where I've
put myself out and
wonder if some day
I'll choke on my own
ashes because you just
had to hold a candle
to keep yourself atoned 10/20/2006 Posted on 10/21/2006 Copyright © 2025 Vere Mantratriad

The whole poem was profound but I especially liked the lines above, hope without faith is indeed a very fallen thing...excellent point and work. smh :) |
