Explaining The Emptiness of Absence by Jeffrey Parrenmy memories of you wash away
into the ocean of my mind
memories that cannot
be revisited via countertop conversations
your caring individuality - the hugs
you shared and guided me with
are those i miss so dearly
unshared with anyone since
when life gets so very difficult
especially these october days leading
towards ultimate acknowledgment
of your death
i stagger a drunken man's steps
without having grasped a bottle this eve
i realize more and more how much you meant
that clichés of loss do not apply to you
the daily difficulty
stumbling out of bed to another empty day
failing to find meaning of it all
grasping empty words to explain absence 10/13/2006 Posted on 10/13/2006 Copyright © 2024 Jeffrey Parren
