Ethnocentrism

by Razel Davies

Different is my life,
Strange are my words.
Caught in your world,
Searching for mine.
Never fit,
Always out of place.
Darkness to light,
Ground to sky.
Evil I’m called,
By unidirectional eyes.

Good or evil?
Am I one or both?
Love is my excuse,
And my regret.
Can I be,
Anything but me?

Ethnocentrism,
The way of you all.
Never listen,
Only talk.
Look down,
From far below.
Superior you feel,
But can you know?

Fear of my kind,
Your pitch-forked walk.
Cries in the night,
Hidden living.
Falling in light,
Cannot be seen,
But we are here.
Try to kill us,
With no win.
For we cannot die,
As we are not wrong.
