The Briefest Review

by Joseff Marat

Placed before each of us is an uncertainty
a broad, endless life where we can do anything we want

...it turns my stomach knowing how 30 years have fallen;
passing, there, as only hours

Only now, in hindsight, can we see that our days are few -

...Now we look to other failures of lives and ask:

What would I have done?

Author's Note: This was truly an expansive thought... that moved over me so quickly as to get a few base ideas. Somewhere down the line it all leaked out of my ears and vanished. I'm only 23 - perhaps I should not know these things yet. Perhaps I forget them to remain "at one" with the natural order... whatever that may be.

Indeed, there is truth and regret in all things. We can only learn and move forward. 23 is a good age to start understanding these things, but be careful not to let it overshadow the perfection you have going for you.

such an emotional way to capture how time can pass... this was good.

Well, what matters is not a life lived in terms of hours and days, as you have realized but in terms of the quality of our own presence in the moment, from moment to moment.Time is an experience which can be stretched, depending upon the quality of our amness.
