Bid My Blood

by Leslie Ann Eisenberg

Like a beacon from a bleeding sky,
he races to my side with one languished sigh,
sable curls flying, sharp eyes the seeker of untold treasure

So sweet the scythe that cuts the air when his hands grip me,
a solitary man set free to salve my scars

<I am but a spindly foal,> plead I,
Ignoble cheek pinking on his chest,
tripping nose over skinny hoof

< Sweet butterfly,> he croons, foiling my proper words,
<You dance through the heaven of my heart.>

Wretched full breath forgotten
He melts my thoughts with silken lips
His tongue tastes like rain on fire
My breath has flown, to be caught again by none but him

intense & heavy. this writing is up there...very brainy, but emotional. to the rescue he comes, amazing how one person can change our world. i can't wait to finish our poem. tonight i hope to put the pieces together and resend it to you. great write here though, i think the last line really seals the deal and delivers the reader.

'....a solitary man set free to salve my scars'..depicts the scene in totality, though it illustrates one side but the solitary man's words does give us impressions of the other side-''< Sweet butterfly,> . A world is created with in this ordinary day to day world. A world where one can take shelter tired of this hubbub and chaos.A world away from all the associations, evoking deads, living in our back yards.

Hi PK. This seems very passionate, but just shy of sensual. "His tongue tastes like rain on fire" is a terrific line. The whole poem seems like a "controled burn". Excellent read. Thanks.
