this time i heard

by Charlie Morgan

i heard those words a hundred times
and this time was different.
like a western blue sky divided by clouds
my heart heard her this time
instead of my ears.

she pixie-dusted her eyes and lay
like a dead-man-in-a-box.
i slid under the covers and touched
her toe with mine, kindling
the embers of our love.

then i wrote her an indelible love letter
with my tears of hurt; the morning shower
washed them away leaving me my anguish
which i found to be deeper
than my tears could rinse.

I am left speechless, I like this side of you Charlie. Even if it leaves me wordless....

Hey Chas, this has my vote for POTD. It's beautiful, tender, amazing and I love it.
