I think you're beautiful

by Beth K Hannah

I think you are beautiful
If beauty was more than 5 minutes
And would return my phone calls and text once in awhile
But I have gotten use to the fact that you see me for
What I can bring to your bed and not to your heart.

But I have succumbed to the fact
That I will never be called “love” by a man
For that would equal me being less myself
And more of him
And I never want to be a part of something
That I do not understand

I think you could be the one thing
That tames me and caresses me
Makes my skin melt in your hand
And forces me to retract from graces
I otherwise would ignore

I think you could make me yours
If you just would touch the sway of my step
And hold my hand at night
Instead of reaching for the remote
And telling me to stop thinking about the future.

When will you understand, my future lays
In the skin that surrounds your bones and muscle.
It lays by your door, begging for that last scrap
Of emotion and balance and faith.

I rather enjoyed this, the line that sticks in my throat especially is this "That I will never be called “love” by a man For that would equal me being less myself And more of him" This really causes one to think, deeply. Well done.

Time, m'dear, will unfold as it is meant to. You know that. But until then, keep faith. And remember, there are those who love you and think that you are exceptional in and of yourself. Love the sentiment.
