Advice on Marriage by Amy NiggelBecause everyone told you
'don't go to bed angry'
as though that were the most important thing.
I held my tongue
and chose my words with care
and here I suppose then is my advice.
Take a moment every day to fall in love,
even when you're angry,
even when you're tired.
Five, ten, fifty years from now
still get butterflies.
Steal kisses when you think no one is looking.
Don't worry about being perfect,
just work on being happy.
Say what you mean,
not just what you're thinking.
Remember the difference between romance and passion,
and never forget that making love is not the same as having sex.
Fight when you need to,
making up is much more fun.
Don't change to become what he wants,
don't let him change to become what you want.
Be yourself.
And go to bed when you're tired,
angry or not. 09/21/2006 Author's Note: My sister is getting married in a couple of weeks and I was just thinking about the advice everyone gave me at my bridal shower. Everyone seemed to think that 'don't go to bed angry' was the best advice. I simply don't believe it. I think it is way more important to have other things first.
