between the boys and the bees

by Vere Mantratriad

he used to tell me
I could sting so sweet
flittering from
matter to matter
but it was always
the same that made
him back away as
he sprayed honey
in the air but
it was only ever
to distract me
from his own sting
that I never found
quite as pretty
but maybe I should
take it in as my own
and I could spend
my time in fields of
flowers picked for
someone else but
all this pollination
is harder than you
think.
