Group Hug by D. Xavier Bari
Ah, the company mixer.
Beer is the healer of all things.
Wounded pride. Sleepless nights.
Perpetual burnout.
RandomStrangersVenting...
He turns with a grin,
speaking slowly,
assuredly.
On the whole,
we're capable of amazing
and somewhat effective feats
inspite of our apparent,
individual, indisputable,
incompetence.
We're people, after all,
not robots,
so it's alright
to complain about
what happened on tv
or at kiddie soccer yesterday
rather than mind, or mention
the many reasons why
the world outisde will never know
we're all one step away
from ________.
The things we never "see"
and words we'll never speak
are the scariest things of all.

Posted by Katerina T Nix on 11/28/06 at 06:27 AM I really, really enjoyed reading this piece. The unmentionables can be scary, but I guess it's just a matter of perception. Well done :) -Kat. |
