Time to Go

by Alison McKenzie

Dank stench of fettid euphoria
Tongue and teeth coated with the sour layer of early regret
Choking on half swallowed words unspoken
Feathered lines on leathery windswept face
Belie the most ancient belief
Crushing layers of unrelieved reality
Deeply imobolize weakening flesh and sinew
One cry my exhausted soul utters

Freedom
