she is not subjective by Ava Blu
she is none of these things
in which seem to claim a piece of her flesh
but do not attempt to create
art in your absent mind
the minute ideals you adhere to on a daily basis
will not waver her from perch
you can entice with your flexing
and revel in each scar she adorns,
but the honesty sinking between each capped tooth
will otherwise prove your character
every time you gulp

| Posted by Gabriel Ricard on 04/21/09 at 03:44 AM Too many great lines to just pick one and leave it at that. This has everything that makes you such a consistently amazing writer, and it hasn't aged a moment in two years. Quietly vicious and absolutely brilliant. I realize how old this is, but it might well be one of my favorite pieces of yours. |

In the dim and distant past (i.e., a period that includes when this was written), I have been guilty of romanticising people who needed actual help rather than what I thought I could give them. Alas, I was not the only one. It reminds me of a line in the song "Number 41" by the Bush the Tree and Me: "maybe up a staircase in the cold / there's a picture of a girl whose hand you'll never hold". |
