in between by Bet Yeldemi stood at the edge of the Grand Canyon thinking
it really wasnt so grand
nothing more, in fact, than a visual representation of us
you, one beautiful rock formation
me, a multicolored jagged expanse
and an abyss in between
much too wide to cross
the depths echo
a place where a river of chemistry and gravity flows
and life flourishes untamed
drinking from the remnants of rain and our tears
the wild calls up to us
to join in the moment, exploring caverns of ourselves
but its too deep to reach
and so we stand like stone, unchanging
until millenniums begin to chip away the layers of our fear
and we fold into that desperate space
inbetween
