Fantasies

by Jane E Pearce

I miss the fantasies-now

memories forever fruitless,

.

eyes locked in stammering

"I love yous", never loud enough

.

to be heard, but sensed in tender

kisses and warm hands to be entwined.

.

I saw you at your viewing

when I was leaving- the ragtime

band still playing-you loved ragtime.

.

You descended steps that appeared

out of nowhere-

you, in that royal blue jacket.

.

"You are dead!!!" but those blue eyes,

and kissable lips said,"not really."

.

Dreams make things come true

until dawn when they are swept away.

.

I still miss the fantasies,

but disintergrated

bone and flesh rein the horses in,

until the new bridal path opens up.
