Stay and Say

by Christopher Shin

Don't go away.
When you say
that I could not stay.

Why is it that you love
someone today when summer
winds do not make you mine
right now.

You say that you will wait
for someone one that isn't me,
and that he will make you
feel like you felt when
you were without me.

I miss the chances you
gave up on me when we
were both confused,
but I'm older and you're gone.

How simple it is to love
a past that is unfolding
all around us as you
deny me again.

So leave me again,
and I'll swallow
the tears as the
salted edges cut
holes in my heart.

Take my hope and
leave me with ashes
of your best intentions
on my broken embrace.
So let me stay,
and leave me with nothing
to say.

Because I don't have
anymore time to hold on
to pieces of you.

oh wow. Don't know what to say to this. Very powerful, moving piece. Melancholia of the heart.
