...an old man said...

by Charlie Morgan

the old man said that the world
is never as black as it has been painted;
and that it's even an impossible ideal
to say otherwise.
i nodded. hard to say whether the old man suffered most
from hindsight or poor sight.

he continued.

'dreadful ideas have power to punish us
if we aren't able to make our way up
the ladder of life, a life that is too precious
to muddle.'

...and yet we muddle on, collecting too many "dreadful ideas". One thing...his "insight" is crystal clear. Thanks Chaz.

The wisdom of age and seen it all before. This is true though, the world is and has been and will be pretty much the same, the difference is the eyes we look at it with. Great write Charles.

Well, having lived 41 years on this ball of mud flying in circles, my conclusion is that it's both worse than we think and better than we think. Every day, every moment is a crossroad of decision. Is the cup half full or half empty? The choice is ours. Really enjoyed this Chaz.
