bank
barges
light
and barges
heavy
glide or
struggle
on the Rhine
deepening gorges
fertile plains
vineyards
terraced
bountiful grain

as I wait
beside the
river thinking
of the
joys to
come
kinder

than my
children
ask me
just
to sing
their
song
