Loners Lament

by Thomas K. Hunt

There’s nothing to do but mess around downtown
People pass you by you hear the strangest sounds
Buying junk, selling snow, it’s everywhere you go
So I sit on a park bench biding my time
Read the newspaper and sip a little wine
Think about all the friends that I know
I wonder where they all go

Baby won’t you sit with me for a while
I won’t be unkind
I only need someone to make me smile
And to help to ease my mind
I promise I won’t fall in love with you
Cause love is so unkind
It leaves you with an empty feeling
And heartache most all the time
I used to think it was a friend of mine

Oh my god some changes can hurt a man
Send him through pain and sorrow again
Make him feel that he’s that much less
And shake his confidence
Baby don’t you fall in love with me
I’ve had many loves before
They always seem to take a part of me
And believe me there’s not much more
No, I’m not what you’re looking for

Lalalalalalala

I’m tired of chasing my dream and coming up empty
And hurts so badly inside to see you leave me Rosie
Cause this time I thought I had found it
Yes, this time I thought it was for sure
But this time turned out like all the other times
I’m left alone standing at the door

To me you were someone who’s special
Not just a lover but a friend
I can’t believe that it’s over
Please tell me this can’t be the end

Cause this time I thought I had found it
Yes, this time I thought it was for sure
But this time turned out like all the other times
I’m left alone standing at the door
I’m so alone standing at the door

Author's Note: This is a lyric I wrote many years ago..at the Laalala's it broke into another tune and worked quite well....

Adored this. Wish I could hear the sound...
