For My Friend by Keith D Allison
How often she
Cradles
the essence
in the glow of Angels wings
Her fragrance
Touching
the air
in the taste of cotton candy
Drawing from the darkness
bringing forth the light
to the garden
unaware
she is the rose
Sunrise, sunset
the turning of soil
in labors of the heart
gently wrapping the tear
Stubbornly
facing the world
little knowing
she is the kiss, in the morning light 08/19/2006 Posted on 08/19/2006 Copyright © 2025 Keith D Allison

Posted by Gregory O'Neill on 08/19/06 at 06:53 PM Hi Keith. This is so tender. Full of weightless whisps of hope and love. You have touching vision and a gentle pen. Thanks. |
Posted by Michelle Angelini on 08/20/06 at 04:28 PM Keith, your form, the way you use white space, the words you use - everything suggests tenderness and love. This must be one special woman.

Posted by Maureen Glaude on 08/23/06 at 03:15 PM a wonderful metaphor in here, Keith. Well done. |
Posted by Alison McKenzie on 06/24/07 at 07:34 AM I love cotton candy, and I would love to have the fragrance of that sweet delicacy used in association with me. Congratulations on POTD. This is a tender portrait of someone obviously very special. |
Posted by JD Clay on 06/24/07 at 09:45 PM It's my guess that you will soon be more than friends after this communique. Heartfelt and ethereal, Keith. I really like the subtle symbolism and the way your open-ended close lends itself to a sequel. Congratulations on becoming The Poem Of The Day. |
