My best friend's heart is broken by Matthew TaylorAll through the years, we take things for granted,
never realizing how short is our prcious time.
Putting off for another day, things we desire get in the way.
Life gets so muddled and wrinkled, can we not iron it out as we go?
Regrets, but few memories abundant, emotions flood ~
the gates of our eyes and mind, mom has gone,
I am left behind.
But God has a plan, a truth, a hope,
His Word is Truth, the Gospel is clear and simple.
Still 1,000 miles are between us at his hour of need,
my heart cries out, it literally bleeds!
I'm in a fog, my mind split in two,
I try to keep busy, but what shall I do?
I conjure up memories of dear Midge,
her face, her smile, her voice,
never a harsh word, always felt welcome,
a subtle class, a stoic provider for her own.
Courageous, undaunted, a survivor of life's harshness.
A second chance at love, a new life, far from here,
made my heart glad, she deserved some peace!
Her son John loved her so deeply, it amazed me.
surely her 3 other sons, and daughter felt the same.
But when a hurdle too massive for a mortal to survive came her way,
his heart was broken, for months, he struggled, in mind body and spirit,
knowing her fate was sealed,
but somehow, now with her passing,
a grace falls like rain over my friend,
his voice sounds comforted, His God has sustained,
yet again.
my dear friend, when your heart is broken, it tears off a piece
of my own as well.
The heaven bound train has paused to gather another aboard,
to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
Amen. 08/19/2006
Author's Note: In memorium of Midge Boland (Lascari) , my dear friend's beloved mom, may her salvation be to the glory of our King, forever and ever.
