the heart is treasure locked in chest by Frankie SanchezThe [heart] keeps its distance.
The heart remains unsurfaced.
The heart is a thing untouched.
Architect and archaeologist alike can not
construct or discover reason respectively,
this fact alone destroys the world
one heart at a time,
when one suddenly realizes that [love]
is a thing bound
in brackets, by boundaries, with limits,
hard to unveil and impossible to own completely.
Hand-to-flesh,
lips-to-breath,
ear-to-chest, and i concede -
there is nothing left to build
and there is no further left to dig.

| Posted by Steven Kenworthy on 08/18/06 at 11:55 AM this is raw.raw.raw. and i like it. the entire poem feels on the verge of explosion and then the moment struck and there it was. your poems dissect real life&love...we need more of that around here. |
| Posted by Cristy M. on 12/11/06 at 08:44 PM as much as i like it, the punctuation in the first licks throws me off. i think that the lines 'love...in brackets..." suffices for it. i really do like it, though. the sentiment, of course, is quite pretty and relatable. |
