15. beggar by Peter Humphreysat night
the city calms
old men
set forth
to fish
late drinkers
wobble home
street life
deserts
the streets
in her corner
she waits
each day
to see
the company
she gathers
her face
dark brown
her eyes
brown bright
as dawn
to dusk
she watches
piteously
pityingly
expressionless
last night
she smiled
as if
for me
but maybe
just for
money
