topic: green streets and shady lanes

by Aaron Michael

in those days where time
ran like waste through a garbage disposal
(those moments that we sqaundered)
on streets paved with the scrapes
that we suffered in pursuit of fun
and sunlit summer days
i may have taken life for granted,
but i was free.

ignorance, like heroin,
makes you feel whole,
till it ultimately becomes
all you are.
hiding in the shade to cool down
from the exertion of attempting to climb a hill
that had nothing on the other side
never thinking i should have learned
how precious time was.
but those streets and shaded glades never
saw the soles of my shoes.

i was far too busy frying ants with a magnifying glass.

This is wonderful, Aaron. I like what you did with the topic. Yes, sometimes we get caught up in the small details, and forget to notice everything else around us.
