Say Goodnight

by Tota Longmire

When we met you seemed so polite.
We sat at a table and talked outside the café.
Why couldn't I just say goodnight?

You offered to walk me home to my delight.
I listened intently to all you had to say.
When we met you seemed so polite.

I saw you in profile and my heart raced at the sight.
You asked to use my bathroom and I said okay.
Why couldn't I just say goodnight?

I was a little nervous but knew it would be alright.
I must admit you had me under your sway.
When we met you seemed so polite.

You did not expect too much of a fight.
You were right much to my dismay.
Why couldn't I just say goodnight?

I really doubt you feel bad about that night.
Even cops doubt you will be forced to pay.
When we met you seemed so polite.
Why couldn't I just say goodnight?

Author's Note: I am falling in love with structured poems. This is a villanelle.
