infliction

by Emily Sullivan

i gave you my heart
and you threw it away
without hesitation
without explanation

its the middle of july
still the nights are so cold
i drown myself in the river
of icy heartless infliction

you have made me hate
the only place i loved
made me want to run away
never to turn off this ignition

for that i cannot forgive
your selfish interuption
