Dead Still

by Matthew Zangen

At that moment- within,

she caught the blade of entropy's gaze;

a frenzied symphony of

maniacal, piercing stares

that screeched wraith-songs'

sorrow into her veins.

She was on the knife's-edge

of a chaotic reign

and all I could do was watch as they tore at her flesh,

their teeth glazed red

with purity's loss;

their eyes blazed with a fire

man had forgotten the meaning of

long ago.
