forget what you know

by Ava Blu

over my head, you went
without a glance back
and it reminded me of that day
the day when you ran your fingers over my back
and kissed the air as the wind delivered coke
in my veins

and I couldn’t or wouldn’t
say the things [you know]
the things without being high

so you delivered me to it
never questioning

and I held your fingers out above my teeth
as the acid dripped onto my tongue

you kissed the insides of my thighs

while I swayed above your head

it reminded me
of that day

day my soul became dead

and I still didn’t say a word.

Positively rich and evocative, eminently memorable. This is beautiful, Jeanna, and I loved swimming in it. Wonderfully done!
