I Made My Lord Cry

by Charles M Harrison

I made my Lord cry today,
I made him shed a tear.
All because I listened
but I chose not to hear.
I knew that I was doing wrong
yet I did it anyway.
I know that I hurt my Lord,
as I know the sun rises each day.
Inside something was different
I did not feel the same way.
What used to bring me pleasure
brought only sorrow today.
Then I knew what I had done
my heart began to break.
I began to shed my own tears
for my Lords sake.
My Lord, through his sorrow
forgave me of my sin.
I began to cry anew
for the pain I caused him.
Like fresh rain that falls
the tears washed the pain away.
I thanked my Lord for his love,
I thanked him again today.

Straight to my favourites. This poem touched my heart with its truth; a lovely and poignant piece of writing, well done!

I was not logged in when I read this the first time. It took me a while to find it again but it is worth it. Thanks for posting it Charles.

Beautiful and touching. I'm glad it showed up in random favorites for me to find. Thank you.
