Grey-gold Rapture by Lulu AlderThey were dancing on an asphalt stage
to the beat of tested resonance.
His shepherding step
that spoke assurance in the awe of thin strands of hair
blown across her face by the sighs of elderly moons
Â…his gentle step and cradling embrace
were all the movements of revelatory fidelity.
He would have sung perhaps
if words were not superfluous in love
or if the song of moths were steadily silenced.
Stars bled in the colors of equanimity,
streaking azure and viridian in a sepia tone
across the abandoned lawn, dazzling dew drops with chime
and softly sprinkled grey-gold rapture in her lashes.
The moment was illuminated
beneath moon-dark chestnuts
with the proposal of intention and constancy.
And her simple answer echoed his heart's satisfaction.
