endtime

by Peter Humphreys

secrets
lie where
secrets
crave
beneath
the mountain
twixt the
grave
and hollow
alder tree
upon the
road as
darkling
made
our memories
store
past
demons
paid
for lovers
met and
strangers kept
from
whispering
wavering
trees
you take
me
where
brook and
beam of
moonlight
stir the
stillest
night
on barley
bed and
cushion
fresh
you lay
your head
and keep
the sleep
at
endtime
