My Pet Peeve

by Charles M Harrison

It’s just a little thing
that I will feed and grow.
Until it’s ready to enter
into the pet peeve show.

I hold it deep within
to keep it warm and dry
Sometimes I do let it out
so it can scream at the sky.

Oh it’s quite a site
when it does let loose
All the people think
oh what a silly goose.

They may laugh I say
but I know it’s true
That there is a pet peeve
inside of you and you and you.

The trick you see is not
to let it grow to large
For then it is the one
who of you will be in charge.

Then you run the risk
of being called insane
Because you let your peeve
take you by the brain.

Oh how bad that is
no joy can you retain
Because you let your peeve
fill all your life with pain.

Healthy are the ones
who practice peeve control
It keeps their life in balance
and sanity in their soul.

Well here we go again
what is before my eyes
It’s time to let my pet peeve out
to get some exercise.
