I see myself at home by Aaron Michaeli see myself as a homeowner.
picketfenced dreams of tomorrow
two-point-five kids and 2 dogs,
blue-trimmed and greenlawned
and beautiful.
fantasy versus reality
is not a contest when
the two coincide
the way
they do
with you.
i see myself as indifferent.
whitepicketfenced fantasy
changes to cardboarded boxes and
a one room apartment.
no children, a cat
and compliling bills that
we can't afford.
empty coffee cups in early morning
with both of us working dead end jobs
for pennies on the dollar,
but still smiling at each other
because we refuse to let the world
tear our love apart.
i can see us,
in the midst of malestrom,
and hellish winterfreeze,
holding each other.
i can see us
in summersun and
whitepicketfenced
cardboarded boxed-up dreams
moving life from house to apartment
to condo, and back,
and making everywhere home.
i see myself as lucky.
