I want to go back

by Thomas K. Hunt

I want to go back
They say that I can’t go
Once you’re on the other side
They put a lock upon that door
If I had to do it over
There just wouldn’t be a way
What’s done is done
Say goodbye to yesterday

I can’t believe it
Please tell me it’s ain’t so
I want to go back
I’ll always want to go

I’ve lived a lifetime
Everyday looking back
Of what was and should have been
Wondering where I got off the track
I can see that it’s a mystery
Happening everyday
There'’s a word for it
“Life”, is what they say

I can’t believe it
Please tell me it’s ain’t so
I want to go back
To the life I used to know

The further you travel
The harder it gets
Leaving you with a ton of regrets
I think I turned left
I should have gone right
But who’s to know
Who’s wrong
Who’s right

I can’t believe it
Please tell me it’s ain’t so
I want to go back
Do you know which way to go

There’s no need to pack
You can never go back
It’s true of what they say
It gets harder every day
I still hold on
I’ll never let go
Get myself back
To where I want to go

I can’t believe it
Please tell me it’s ain’t so
I want to go back
Please tell me I can go

Lost in the mystery
Miles away
Turn me around
Point the way
Show me the road
Take me back there please
Mister, can’t you see me
I’m down on my knees

I can’t believe it
Please tell me it’s ain’t so
I want to go back
To the only home I know
