Binding for Accepting a Blessing

by Mary J Anna

(some Idle Frustration)

You say
that I have been washing my hands
with protection.
It glides and manifests,
Evenly.
I wash my body down.
I glance at the feather in front of me-
repeat.

I wash my body down.
I glance at the feather,
the water runs scalding-
stop

(I wash my body in protection) I wash my hands
harshly- friction laden gelatinous movements
the water is sleepy-er
too slow,
stop.

(head catch up!!)
I glance at the feather in front of me.
Rainbowed black
sickly-er (than soap)
I wash my body
repeating

I gaze at the feather
choppy pieces of
Fever-messy strands
<"making an artificial night"
washing
Romeo chooses the midnight
making the artificial night>
I gaze at the feather
repeating,

I have been washing my hands with protection.

I enjoyed the repetition. Sometimes no matter how much handwashing is done, the "blood" (dirt) never comes off. Enjoyable read.
