Days End

by Charles M Harrison

All I seek at the days end
after my work and toil.
Is the place that I call home
my own little piece of soil.
What will be there waiting for me
when at last I arrive?
There will be my family
and love that keeps me alive.
If I had a chance trade all the time
spent in wasteful endeavor .
I know that I would for a moment
if that moment would last forever.
For there is never enough time
to be where I leave my heart.
I gladly would spend all of time
in their loving embrace and never part.
