truth and confession by Emily Davidsontruth:
i feel very close to you. in a suitable, appropriate sort of way.
confession:
it's not enough.
truth:
i wait patiently and quietly until you glance at me. when you do, it is perfect.
confession:
but i need more.
truth:
in the morning i rise because i know i will see you.
confession:
when the sun sets i stay up and i
think about you and wonder
if i make an appearance in the
night sky of your thoughts
like a crescent moon or
a pale planet
in a black blanket of clouds
truth:
we don't belong together. we could never work.
confession:
i would kill
to tell you how i felt
only because i believe
there is a pale planet's chance
in a midnight sky
that you will
understand
truth:
i know what i want from you is wrong.
confession:
that won't stop me. 06/28/2006 Posted on 06/29/2006 Copyright © 2024 Emily Davidson

Posted by Timothy Somers on 06/29/06 at 11:11 AM I like this. I think though that the Truth/Confession in the body is not needed, the title does that. You might even split the title to two lines to indicate structure and ignore convention. I love the universe/sky reference to pull the two of you together, possibly. And while I'm at it, I want another stanza between the 3rd & 4th to sidetrack me before I circle back with the rest of the piece. Wonderful expression & imagery. Thanks for the read. |
