The Line

by Tracy Ellen

Casually walking the line
between your world and mine,
Chasing values and honor
whose worth I cannot know
whose truth I cannot know.

Futile it seems
then I scream
“I am alive!”

This is the line I choose to walk
These are the thoughts I choose to stalk
This is the world in which I choose to do
things which, perhaps, never occurred to you.

Or
Perhaps I shall watch to learn
how your deeds leave their burn,
Perhaps in comparison truth will appear
to change the line I walk year by year.
