The Warmth I Need by Amanda ConlogueI watch winter gasp
a dying breath, breathing
bitterly, cold infiltrates
the lapels of my woolen coat
the collar of my shirt
my skin contracts, shudders
the sun is a watery blur
afloat in the sky, pale
incapable of giving
the warmth I need
I hunch my shoulders
shove my hands into pockets
fists clenched, trying
to make do, as if
this cold ever mattered 06/10/2006 Posted on 06/27/2006 Copyright © 2024 Amanda Conlogue
