mist

by Peter Humphreys

mist
settles
as mist
does
on
every thing
our eyes
lids
glisten
our necks
wet
our lips
moist
and hair
dark damp
I come
to you
in
celebration
of life's
mist born
mornings
of misty
days and
misty moons
in Mayo's
mountains
mist strewn
lanes and
meadows
sweet with
mist lain
dew
I come
to
you
complete

Oh, and now —you have me all misty-eyed! Beautiful!
