The Heart Exchange

by Matthew Taylor

when you invest...
you test the market,
sometimes love finds~then you park it..
for a while, let your heart linger there
to share and release care
to another, and it becomes a heart exchange.
unlike stocks, or building blocks...
hearts are more complex,
more resilient, yet can be broken..
when you give your heart to another,
you expect exchange, or return,
yet we yearn, often disappointed.
when you give your heart, it should be forever.
but the exchange can be rearranged,
neglected if left unprotected
from heartbreak.

Author's Note: matters of the heart are often at the very heart of my thoughts, take what you will from this, and leave what you think...a penny for your thoughts...
