Where Is It You Go

by Steven Craig

Is there any particular beach that you like, desert that you care to sit in and experience the silence, any beloved mountain that you call your home, a place to dwell in your time upon the needs of your life?

Is there any one road that leads you to the ocean and the shore, any one path that carries you to the desert winds, any one forested way that holds you close to the mountains summit?

Is there a place you have been that you would return, and is there a place that you would return only in the arms of another? Is there a chance that you grasp for, that which holds a promise, a way to live your days knowing that you have performed your best?

Is there a ray of light that holds your vision to the eastern sea? Is there a cold stark moon rising over the moonlit desert night? Is the mountain red in the dawns moving light, that chases the shadows away from your eyes as you greet the new day?

Are you the explorer seeking the undiscovered country, or are you the land laying just beyond the vision of those that seek you?

Are you the flame, or are you that which is consumed?
