Loneliness

by Steven Craig

Loneliness is a land where the castles have washed into the sand
Where forests are but burnt embers
When we once had dreams that no one remembers
Where hope is lost
When happiness stumbles
When friends are forever gone
When loved ones turn
Where the chill tears at your heart
When you walk in and endless corridor
As you cry out from a ceaseless shadow and
only your echo saps you more.

OH! Such ceaseless pain, what empty agony
How welcomed death

Loneliness is a place where the beginning is so utterly blank
Where the end is so endless
Where the void is so vast
When age is ageless
It is where the mind turns to stone
And so markless is that rock that you tear at so violently
So heartless is your heart that has pushed you aside
It is where the hands read so desperately for the nothing
that is not there
When you have nothing to give
When you say "I have everything", and you turn your back.
