12. via sacra

by Peter Humphreys

standing
on the
capitoline
hill
she wonders
if their
love will
still
be strong
when miles
draw them
apart

standing on
the
capitoline
hill
he wonders
if his
heart
can take
the pain
and strain
that being
apart
will bring

standing on
the
capitoline hill
they look
down upon
remains of
worlds
that stood
those tests
and more
much more
O so much more

standing
on
the
capitoline
hill
he
picks
a
flower
for
her
hair

they
walk
their
way
once
more

separation is so difficult and i love the mirrored stanzas reflecting personal fears that are so similar and yet not spoken

And that's the answer, to enjoy the moment instead of lingering on the worry. Lovely.
