Movin' On by Daniel PetersonYour box / human laundry / the scattered socks
a grid / electric limbs / that existed before we did
this space / distant / discourse
this course / paced / extant
The landed / metes and bounds / be expanded
temporal claims / pride, misfortune / the one, the same
this haze / sullen / cruel
this woolen / maze / pulling, pull
The fabric / bends, it waves / a maverick
connects / couches, beds / over heels and necks
this sleepy / shared / erection
this selection / weeping / pairs
The eyes / they break / a Brooklyn disguise
to fill / saline, saltine / crack the winter chill
this home / apart / define
this line / alone / departs
La Guardia / unnoticed, unseen / little flower
blown away / accomplished, callous / his motion to stay
the schoolhouse / proceedings / overheard
the morning window / lessons / learned

Author's Note: At what point, exactly, do you move on?

| Posted by Julie Adams on 06/01/06 at 04:23 PM Daniel!...this is a GREAT poem, LOVED IT...the poem sewn together by stiches that resemble backslashes ;) ...the images swen together are perfectly poised and allow the mind to enjoy the flow down the "page" while stopping to smell the roses of each stanza...the kind of control and clarity that went into making this piece, the breaks, etc. manage to reach the reader in a stream-of-consciousness that is sure to be remembered. Well done!
My favoite lines:
"this haze / sullen / cruel
this woolen / maze / pulling, pull"
AND
"La Guardia / unnoticed, unseen / little flower
blown away / accomplished, callous / his motion to stay"
I am so glad I read this today, a new favorite...thank you, peace n love, *jewels* |
