May 26th

by Matthew Taylor

another year gone by...
time really does fly, or is it
just an illusion?
to much confusion in the world to stop and ponder
my mind on it's own does wander.
birthdays are less festive each passing year.
who knows how many we'll collect,
like old clothes stuffed in rubbermaid,
you really don't want to dislpay them as time goes on.
so happy, sappy, bithday to me,
this year I watched birds in a tree,
they amused me,when most things confuse me.
got a bird feeder as a gift,
gave my glum spirits a lift.
sat alone wearing old clothes,
watched the door on another year close,
quietly.
