and leave not a memory by Vere MantratriadI could die
And leave not a memory
But a deceptive death notice
Of being survived by mourning loved ones
"She will be missed by all"
I could die
And leave not a memory
But a nightly news teaser
A warning parents instill in their little ones
"Don't go down that road"
I could die
And leave not a memory
But a constant chimera
Waking a lone survivor night after night
"There was nothing I could do"
I could die
And leave not a memory
But the smell of searing skin
Contained within the grains of your cilia
"Plugs only hold it in"
I could die
And leave not a memory
But a life-long legacy
A dedication to some sort of better life
